Sprang - Kölsh Inspired Ale (4.9% abv)
Trillium Brewing (Boston, MA)

Quick beer tip before the review, Kölsh is pronounced “Kelsh"

Sprang pours a hazy, pale gold with a very sudsy head. It definitely doesn’t smell like any Kölsh that I’ve had before as it smell predominantly of bright, fruity American hops rather than the earthy, spice European hops I’m used to. It took a while to think of what this smells like but it reminds me of mangoes and white wine (which smells less strange than that sounds). The taste is where the old school Kölsh character really comes out. The classic German clean, cracker-like malt profile works perfectly with the new world hops to make an extremely refreshing and unique twist on a classic style. Trillium as always never fails to disappoint.

95/100
