Kevin Scott: Wake Robin Farmhouse Red Rye

Wake Robin Farmhouse Red Rye Ale (7.4% abv)

Trillium Brewing (Boston, MA)

Wake Robin pours a clear dark amber with a thin beige head. It's smells of sweet, bready malt intertwined with the classic barnyard funk of the saison yeast. Sipping this beer, the sweetness of the malt is quickly replaced by the spicy, earthy aftertaste. I've never had a rye farmhouse ale before and I'm glad I tried it but was a bit underwhelmed considering Trillium's other beers. If you love farmhouse style beers maybe this is up your alley but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped.
