Troegs Hop Knife Harvest Ale. Troegs Brewing Company, Hershey, PA. America IPA 8.7% ABV.
To start off my fall beer week, I have selected Troegs Hop Knife. This is a way to ease into the Harvest/Pumpkin Ale season, and this is the only beer of the upcoming week that is not a true Pumpkin Ale. In any case, I wanted to try this one since it is a relatively new release from Troegs and got quite high reviews. In any case, on to the review.
Served chilled from a 12 oz bottle and poured into a pint glass. Pours a beautiful orange-amber color with a frothy two finger white foam head. Smells are of citrus peels and apricot. Lots of apricot. Carbonation is moderate with a medium body. Taste is of grapefruit, orange, apricot and is extremely malty. The aftertaste is somewhat bitter, and is a pretty refreshing beer for a late summer/early fall evening.
Overall a pretty good American IPA. I was shocked when writing this review that it was 8.7%. While drinking it I would have assumed 6.5, or 7 at the most. They did a very nice job masking the alcohol, and used an intense maltiness to create a fuller body. I would buy this again, but do not agree with how high BA has is rated (91 as of 9/6).

Just had this seasonal offering from Troegs last weekend. Also was surprised by the alcohol content and how well it was masked. Very nice review!
