On a recent trip to the Twin Cities, I had the opportunity to check out the Tin Whiskers Brewing Company in Saint Paul, MN. They are a relatively new brewery, and I believe are less than a year old. It was great to check out their taproom and try a few beers. My favorite had to have been the Short Circuit Nitro Stout, a 5.3% ABV Milk Stout with an incredibly smooth and creamy consistency. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, sugar and milk are evident, with the aftertaste comparable to a milkshake. This beer was phenomenal. They are also known for combining the Nitro Stout with their Wheatstone Bridge American Pale Wheat Ale. This 50-50 combo was one of the better black and tan style drinks I've had.
The group I was with ordered most of the beers on the menu between everyone, so I had the opportunity to sample a sip of each. I can say that this brewery is doing some great things, and the small batch brewing certainly increases the quality of each individual beer. I hope to see them grow and wish them luck!
Cheers!
Scott
