Stone RuinTen DIPA. Escondido, CA. American Double IPA. 10.8% ABV.
Served cold from a 22 oz bomber into a snifter. Pours a beautiful, slightly hazy amber color with a small head that doesn't retain itself. Smells are citrusy-grapefruit and orange peel lead the way with a fresh piney smell as well. The carbonation and body are both moderate. Tastes are similar to the smell, as citrus peel and grapefruit dominate. Also has a bready mouthfeel to it, with a chewiness apparent. This beer is unfiltered and very fresh. Aftertaste is bitter with a hint of citrus on the tongue. This beer masks the 10.8% ABV shockingly well.
Overall, an amazing DIPA that I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to try. This is the second release of this beer, and the first since 2012. It was originally released to mark the tenth anniversary of Stone Ruination. Hence Ruin (Ruination) Ten (10th anniversary). Beer snobs everywhere have been awaiting this release, and are buying bottles up in cases. Definitely buy this if you are lucky enough to find it, but remember to drink fresh!
100/100
Also thank you to Ryan C. for bringing this back from PA. Much appreciated!
