Omission IPA. Gluten-free IPA. Widmer Brothers Brewing Company. Portland, Oregon. 6.7% ABV

Poured from a 12 oz bottle and served in a pilsner glass. Pours a clear amber color with a thick head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells are earthy and hoppy, with hints of citrus peel. Carbonation is medium with a relatively light body for an IPA. Tastes are of citrus, mostly orange and grapefruit. Has hints of bitterness but also a nice fruity complexity. Finishes bitter and again the citrus lingers.

I have sampled a few gluten free beers and have been very disappointed. However, this one was quite good. I had no idea until I wrote the review that Widmer Brothers were behind this beer, but it doesn't surprise me given how good it was. With Gluten-free diets popular and more knowledge about allergies, these beers are a growing segment in craft beer. Even non-celiacs have been sampling them. I would actually buy this one again.

Overall a light, fruity and bitter IPA that is an overall pleasant drinking experience.

84/100
