Southern Tier Imperial Rum Barrel Aged Pumking. Lakewood, NY 10.7% ABV.

Served chilled from a 22 oz bomber and poured into a large snifter. Pours a coppery-orange color with practically no head. Smells are of rum, vanilla and pumpkin. Carbonation is light with a medium to full body. Taste is like the smell. Vanilla and pumpkin lead with a slight warming quality from the rum. A hint of oakiness as well and some sweetness from the malt.

Overall this beer was phenomenal. I would compare to an aged Pumking. I had a 2011 "king" recently and this resembled it in terms of body and flavor. Is it worth double the price of a regular king? Probably not but it is still a world class level beer. At the same time think of the cost to age a regular one for 3 years and it doesn't sound as bad. I would be very curious to see how this one ages. I have one more bottle that I plan on holding on to.

96/100

$15/22 oz bomber
