Hop Savant -  Citra | Crooked Stave Brewery & Taproom | Denver, Colorado | American Brettanomyces India Pale Ale | 7.00% ABV

Served chilled from a 12 oz bottle and poured into a snifter. Pours a hazy orange color with a two finger white foam head. Smell is tropical, citrusy and somewhat tart. Carbonation is moderate with a medium body. Taste is earthy and peppery, with hints of lemon, lime zest, and some mango. The funk isn't too sour, and overall creates a pretty complex beer. The taste was absolutely nothing like the smell. I had been expecting a very sour version of a West Coast IPA, and what I got was a more slightly funky version of a mix between a Belgian wheat and American Pale Ale.

Overall, this was a decent selection from Crooked Stave. I have tried many of their beers before and they never disappoint (though this is at the bottom of my list for them). Besides Citra, they also have versions with the Galaxy and Amarillo hops-definitely wishing I went with the Galaxy but that will have to be next time!
