Firestone Walker Stickee Monkee. Central Coast Quadrupel. Paso Robles, CA. 13.4% ABV.
Served semi-chilled from a 22 oz bomber and poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a pitch black color with absolutely no head. Smells are of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, toffee, dark fruits and cocoa. Carbonation is very light with an extremely full body. This beer has nearly a syrupy consistency, and I compare it closely to BCBS, BCCS, Parabola or KBS. Taste is of bourbon, figs and dates, molasses, vanilla, caramel and is quite sweet. Some say it has hints of leather and cigar tobacco, with coconut or brown sugar as well. There are so many flavors going on it is difficult to ascertain all of them. Aftertaste is warming and boozy, with bourbon and molasses lingering on the tongue.
This is quite a beer, and one I feel very lucky to have been able to try. My grocery store put a few boxes on the shelf back in early August (though it was originally released in mid-Spring.) I am not sure why they waited to put it out, but I was lucky enough to grab 2 boxes of this. I plan on storing the other one away for some time, as I have heard it ages tremendously. If you plan on having a bottle share, you will look like an all star for bringing this one.
