Goose Island Bourbon County Backyard Rye Stout. Imperial stout with mulberries, boysenberries and marionberries and aged in Rye Whiskey barrels. Chicago, Illinois. 12.7% ABV.
Served chilled from a 22 oz bomber and poured into wine glasses. Pours a deep black color with a purplish tint and literally no head. Smells are of coffee, bourbon and berries. Carbonation is very light with a full, full body. Taste is like the smell. Bourbon and coffee lead and finishes with hints of fresh, sweet berries.
This was an incredible treat. I was at a bar with a big group and thought I was ordering a bottle of the Bourbon County Coffee to share with everyone, but when the bartender brought over the bottle I was shocked to find the Backyard Rye. It was on my short-list of Bourbon County Brand beers to try, and I now have had 4 different ones. This one is definitely a dessert-like beer, and I think the best way to describe it would be to echo a recent Beer Advocate review:
"A shot of coffee that is topped off with two shots of bourbon and then a layer of your grandma's jam." Sandbarunner September 3, 2014

Couldn't describe it any better.
