Ballantine India Pale Ale. Pabst Brewing Company. Los Angeles, CA. 7.2% ABV.
Served from a bottle and poured into a plastic Heineken cup (come on it's at a ballgame!) Pours a reddish amber color with a one finger white foam head. Smells are quite malty with a hint of citrus. Carbonation is moderate with a medium body. Taste is of caramel malt, pine, citrus and hints of grapefruit/pineapple. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and crisp.
Overall this was a pretty good beer. Many people have been waiting for this beer to come back after more than a decade hiatus. I was thrilled to see it at Yankee Stadium, and had to make this my first try. Definitely not worth $9.50/bottle though! On a side note, it was cool to be able to see Derek Jeter's final home stand, and even as a diehard Sox fan, I appreciated seeing what could potentially be his last career homer. Heck of a career and first ballot Hall of Famer.
87/100
$9.50/bottle at Yankee Stadium, but probably $2/bottle anywhere else!
