Allagash Saison. Farmhouse Ale/Saison. Portland, Maine 6.1 % ABV.
Served cold in a snifter. Pours a light yellow murky color with a one finger head. Smells earthy with hints of citrus peel, lemongrass and orange. Very heavily carbonated with almost no aftertaste. The finish is incredibly dry and crisp, and some of the spices come through at the end.
This is a pretty solid saison from Allagash. I've only recently begun drinking saisons, but this is definitely one that I would try again. The style is an acquired taste, but one that you should try if you never have had one before. Start out with a Stone Saison ($2/bottle), The Bruery's Saison Rue (this retails $15-25/bottle) or this Allagash Saison ($3/bottle).
90/100
