Westbrook Citrus Ninja Exchange 2014. American Double IPA brewed with Fruit and Citrus Peel in collaboration with The Charleston Beer Exchange. Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. 9.5% ABV.
Served chilled from a 22 oz bomber and poured in a snifter. Pours a copper-amber color with a slight red-orange hue and a thin white foam head. Smells are of grapefruit and citrus peel and caramel malts. Carbonation is moderate with a medium body. Taste is fruity. Grapefruit, mango and a syrupy taste begins, with an intense hoppy bitterness at the finish.
Overall a pretty solid beer from Westbrook. I had higher expectations after trying the Mexican Cake and IPA, but this was still very good. With a plethora of great DIPAs out there, I would rather spend my money on some lower cost options. However, to split it with a friend is never a bad idea!
